“It’s important to dress well when you travel. Don’t wear sweatpants. My parents always told me that when I travel I represent where I’m from so it’s important to represent that place well. That’s why I get dressed up whenever I travel, so maybe you’ll wonder where I’m going and where I’m coming from.”

WeJetSet is excited to present our latest effort within the Travel Chronicles Series. In the past we highlighted how travel shapes the talents, perspectives and experiences of creative people worldwide. And now we’re expanding our editorial direction to include the stories behind the creative spaces people visit when traveling.
We’re First up is our favorite shopping destination in Philadelphia – Sugarcube. Curating a timeless mix of vintage and contemporary clothing seems impossible, but founders Elisa Burrato and Edward Dormer do it with sophistication and ease. Through a casual conversation they discuss their history, their commitment to Philadelphia, and a few other intangible ingredients that make their retail operation special. Whether it’s the interior build-out constructed entirely from reclaimed wood, or their amazing customer service – you quickly realize that a visit to Sugarcube isn’t just about shopping, it’s much more experiential. FREE AI WEIWEI: Never Sorry Trailer
@wejetset recently tweeted this great post regarding the arrest of Ai Weiwei’s wife, staff and ultimately his disappearance when boarding a flight from Beijing to Tokyo. They also posted this trailer in the article.
Every time I read about him I couldn’t help but wonder how it has been this long that he could be so vocal against the Chinese government. Clearly this regime does not agree with revolutionaries. I try not to get too political or even go on a soap box. I let the media speak for itself.
It’s important to appreciate this mans thought process, artistic views, but more importantly his mission. Standing silent while injustices are being committed places us in the same company as the ones committing the injustice. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ai Weiwei, his family, and staff.
