Watched a monocle video on the recent commercial airline trade show. All of these great ideas on how to better fit a plane for commercial use. All while trying to accommodate the airlines and offer the least wait and the best comfort. The airlines should demand more from the aircraft manufacturers.

Insight
The Soho Grand Hotel is famous for establishing itself as Manhattan’s first luxury downtown boutique hotel. Opened on August 4, 1996, it was the first hotel to be built in the neighbourhood for more than a century and is located in the heart of SoHo, alongside world renowned art galleries, boutiques and restaurants.
In the summer of 1997 my family planned our last great “Family Trip” and we picked no where else but New York City. My mother had heard about the newly opened Soho Grand and booked suites for us. Upon arrival I was immediately impressed from the curb side service of the doormen to the uncanny knowledge and cultural insight of the concierge. Since then it has been a favourite of mine as well as many in my inner circle.
From its historic cast-iron facade to its radical art-world legacy, Soho sits at the epicentre of downtown style and activity. Helpern Architects constructed the hotel’s intentionally nondescript exterior and is a reflection of the evolution of SoHo’s architectural heritage over the past 125 years. Celebrated Interior Designer, Bill Sofield, of Sofield Studios, has collaborated with the Hotel from its inception and the interior mirrors the stylistic trends visible in the neighbourhood today. All of the materials used in construction are consistent with the existing character of the community and continues to elevate and embody the classic SoHo aesthetic.
Relaxed and sumptuously refined, with a view overlooking West Broadway, the Grand Bar & Lounge offers space to come together and mix in the Soho scene. Soho Grand style is unmistakably timeless. The intimate relaxed décor matches perfectly with the uncomplicated taste of the hotel’s classic American cuisine. A hot bed of activity, on my stay’s I’ve had the chance to connect and meet people ranging from Q-Tip to then newly hired Brand Jordan mastermind Gentry Humphry in the bar and lounge.
The Soho Grand’s unfailing ability to balance service and style has been the key to its success and continuously sets the highest standard amongst hotels of its kind.

“It’s important to dress well when you travel. Don’t wear sweatpants. My parents always told me that when I travel I represent where I’m from so it’s important to represent that place well. That’s why I get dressed up whenever I travel, so maybe you’ll wonder where I’m going and where I’m coming from.”

Travel Tuesday: Finch Hattons, Africa.
I’ve had the zoo on my mind a lot lately… Karen Blixen’s beloved Kenya is alive and kicking at Finch Hattons, a classic colonial tented camp deep in the heart of the African bush that is as sexy as it is timeless. In Tsavo, Kenya’s largest and least crowded national park, where volcanic rock and thorn trees meet sun-bleached grasslands, this rustic savannah-chic hideaway offers a once-in-a-lifetime safari experience, reminiscent of a bygone era.
