Svpply Sets.
I got a nudged a few weeks back by a homie to start using the Sets Feature for svpply. Naturally it made sense. I like it because for a while Svvply was for me a resrouce for the mashups and a place to dump items that I need to purchase or wished I could purchase. With the sets, it has allowed me to organize the confusion of my svpply profile.
I wanted to take this time to introduce you to my sets and explain some others that you should get familiar with.
One of my first sets was inspired by the homie CB’s sets that are featured on svpply. Simple straight and to the point. A classic ADT mashup. The next was A Lunch Meeting with Cliff Huxtable at the Four Seasons. Fans of American Psycho should get a kick out of that one. The last and my favorite is We Pregame Harder Than You Party. That was a motto that I started saying back in college. This set is basically the essentials of my cocktail den.
I also wanted to point out the fact that others such as Marisa are creating sets focused around specific items such as bags in her case, or Josh Woods amazing literature collection. All around dope concept and I hope you start one if you have a svpply account.

Reading on the ipad is not cool. Looking at peoples dope tumblr themes via the ipad is. Having said that, here is a fresh way to add less than a pound to your bag and stay up on the latest books. The B&N Nook is taking the proverbial feces on the Kindle. And here is why. The look and the cohesiveness of this hardware by far the easiest thing to read. My eyes don’t hurt after an hour or two of reading. It’s only $249, so I didn’t feel too bad. Now my B&N book cue is about to go bananas. ADT approves this shit.
Sometimes when I get off of work, I go straight to the bar. The espresso bar that is. I enjoy a nice cup or two to get my “mojo” back. I often hit up Buzz Bakery to chat it up with my partner Carl about life, and the app that Activebright is creating. While buzz is mainly a cupcake spot, their hidden gem is that they serve madcap coffee. Madcap in my opinion is the best coffee in the city. Smooth and it hits you immediately.
I also saw that Carl was sporting the Bookbook and the Karvt iphone casing. Styling on you nerds for sure.
Off Book: Etsy Art & Culture
America has a long tradition of handmade arts and crafts. In the manufacturing age, however, much of this work was overshadowed by the homogenizing force of retail culture. But the passion for handmade arts didn’t disappear, and persisted through the years in local craft fairs. Now in the age of the internet, these local craft cultures and artists have found a unifying online community, Etsy, that provides a platform for communication and sales to appreciative fans and customers, as well as a medium to connect with each other and share ideas across the globe.
There’s a lot to pore over with Facebook’s new iPad app and the new HTML5 mobile app platform. But I think Matt Rosoff of Business Insider has keyed in on the most important thing that’s currently being drowned in spin:
Facebook won’t let developers use Facebook Credits on the iPhone or iPad.
Obviously, in the native app, Facebook would have to give a 30% cut to Apple for any purchases made. But what’s important is how much of the app is actually HTML5-based. Facebook is crippling their own HTML5 work here. Fascinating.
Why?
Well, either Facebook doesn’t want to pay Apple the 30% cut of all in-app sales. Or Apple doesn’t want Facebook circumventing their own in-app system. Or both.
As BI notes, this has likely been a big reason for the hold up of the Facebook iPad app — which such looks to be the exact same one I found and leaked leaked months ago. The one that was feature-complete in May.
You won’t hear a peep on this stuff on the record from either side, but there’s a ton going on behind the scenes here.
