The Abbot (Rza) speaks on the work ethic of Kanye West. Breakfast with team, work out, charity work, studio for 12 hours. Rinse and Repeat. The team is going to have to get on a schedule similar to this.
If you are a fan of both hip hop and Leica, this video is almost impossible not to reblog. Photographer Jonathan Mannion runs us briefly through his amazing career photographing hip hop through his Leica lens. Some of the most iconic images in hip hop come from this guy and a Leica. Figures.
The camera is sort of the last piece of the puzzle. You know like what can you do? Can you tell me why your pictures are going to be important? Can you tell me what you wanna do? Can you make me believe in the picture? Like me, I mean, let alone an artist that does this over and over like why are you special? Why is your voice special?” - Jonathan Mannion
LET IT GROW: STYLES P
This is a great moment when I can support two movements that I really respect. Styles P has always been in my Top 10 of favorite MC’s. So this post is natural. The other cool thing is that my brother Yoshi just texted me that he added one of the members of The SHHO to his team here in D.C. To my surprise they are also fellow Rams from VCU. Check out this video and check out their site.

My Song Rating: 9.5 out of 10

“You can’t fake cool and you can’t buy cool,” says hip-hop exec turned advertising guru Steve Stoute, whose new book, “The Tanning of America,” explores how hip-hop rewrote the rules of the new economy.

Main Attrakionz - 808s & Dark Grapes 2 (Bandcamp, 2011)
On first listen this is sounding like the most mature and cohesive effort to date from MA to date. But it’s also entirely possible that they dropped seven albums that I missed last month and that one or more of those could be even more mature and show greater cohesion. The world may never know…ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ
